The History of Cray Bros. Memorials.
Bill and Frank Cray started Cray Bros. Memorials around 1975 after working for another monumental mason for many years until that business was sold. Cray Bros. Memorials started on the Cray family property at Deep Lead where Bill and Frank grew up. After a few years they moved to our current location in Johnson St, Stawell.
Two of Bill's sons, Andrew and Dale run the business now, but Bill now 74, still comes in to help out working the stone in the workshop and teaching his trade to our apprentice.
As a lot of finished monuments are imported, it may not be long before the trade is lost in Australia.
